Kids Reading Across RI (KRARI) is a statewide community read program for kids in grades 4-6. Each year the KRARI committee selects a book that connects to the statewide public library summer reading theme and invites the author to speak at a kickoff event at the State House. The 2018 summer reading slogan/theme is “Libraries Rock!” and the 2018 KRARI book is The First Rule of Punk by Celia C. Pérez.
This year we’ll be hosting the KRARI kickoff event at the State House on Saturday, March 19th, 2pm-4pm. We’ll be giving a free copy of the book to every family in attendance and the author will sign books, speak with a Jr. Press Corps, and address families in the Governor’s Room.
We’re pleased to announce that Governor Raimondo is this year’s honorary chair and will be on hand to introduce the author. In addition to the author speaking and signing books, libraries and organizations offer activities and/or information about their programs at tables that are set up around the rotunda outside the Governor’s Room.
